Unathi’s ICT career has her feet placed firmly in both the private and public sectors including tenures at First National Bank, Business Connexion and SITA. She has absorbed a wide range of ICT technical disciplines, enabling her management of multi-disciplinary technical teams across the entire ICT spectrum. Strategy planning with specific attention to alignment, implementation, business development, as well as executive and board engagements count among her skills. Whilst at SITA, she held a number of management roles, including establishing the Integration and Interoperability division, heading the Converged Communication division culminating to the CIO role heading Internal IT.
One of her key strengths lies in her ability to translate strategy into operational delivery to meet the needs of the business and to ensure creation of value-add. Her exceptional communication skills and ability to build relationships at a senior level have served as a solid foundation in building her profile. She recently completed a Master of Science (M.S) degree in Technology Management at Columbia University in New York. Some of the highlights of her career were being featured in the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) Annual Report 2011-2012.
As a speaker she has addressed the following conferences in various ICT and Leadership topics: GovTech Conference 2013 on Common Government ICT Architecture; IT Infrastructure and Broadband Conference 2014 on The Elusive Value of IT Infrastructure in Government; Women in ICT Leadership Conference 2015 & 2016 on Future Directions for Women ICT Leaders; Annual Business Process Management Conference 2016 on The Rebirth of Business & IT Alignment through Business Process Management, Women in Technology Leadership Summit 2016 on Key Techniques for Leadership Success, the 3rd Annual City Development Conference on The Vision of ‘Smart Cities’ in the face of the current ICT Revolution and recently AfricaCom 2017 on IT Strategy.
